AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) tells you how much of the gas you buy becomes heat. A 95% AFUE furnace turns 95 cents of every fuel dollar into warmth for your home. The higher the number, the lower your heating bills.
A furnace that's too big turns on and off constantly, wasting fuel and wearing out parts. A furnace that's too small runs nonstop and still leaves rooms cold. We size every system to your home's square footage, insulation, windows and layout, so you get steady comfort and the efficiency you paid for.
Two-stage and variable-speed furnaces can run at lower, quieter speeds for more even heat. You can add a smart thermostat, a whole-home humidifier, or an air cleaner.
| Comparison | Standard Efficiency | High Efficiency |
|---|---|---|
| AFUE rating | 80% | 90%–98% |
| Upfront cost | Lower | Higher |
| Monthly gas bills | Higher | Lower |
| Venting | Uses existing chimney or metal flue | Vents through the side wall with PVC pipe |
| Best for | Milder use, tight budgets, homes where venting changes are hard | Year-round homes, long-term savings, eligibility for utility rebates |

If you smell gas, leave your home right away and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Every home with a gas furnace should have working carbon monoxide detectors. If your CO alarm sounds, get everyone outside and call 911. Once the area is safe, call us to inspect your furnace and venting.
